This unique, eye-catching bag is pieced from fabrics consistent with the Christmas theme, but could be used as a lovely red shopping bag throughout the year. It is large enough to fit the contents of a ‘green’ supermarket bag, or A4 folders and necessities for a day out or a day of study or shopping. The fabric was sewn and quilted on a home sewing machine (with a bit of hand-sewing). The quilting adds strength, as does the padding, and may add a little insulation. Unlike supermarket bags the fabric, wadding and threads are all cotton. The decoration on the top edge and the handles are synthetic so the bag can be machine washed (cold is recommended) but do not tumble dry. The bag can be ironed on a cotton setting – avoiding the handles and the top edge.

The bag measures 35 x 34 x 18 cm on the outside, and the straps are both 34 x 3.5cm.
